Features of WWII Aircraft-Themed 2018 Eagle Squadron Ford Mustang GT

Many American fighter pilots served in the Royal Air Force in Great Britain prior to the entry of the U.S into WWII, and to pay tribute to them, Ford created a WWII aircraft-themed, one-off 2018 Eagle Squadron Ford Mustang GT. It combines the exceptional performance of the iconic Mustang GT with many custom design features.

Eagle Squadron Ford Mustang GT at Goodwood Festival of Speed and EAA

The Eagle Squadron Ford Mustang GT, which was co-created by Ford Performance and world champion drifter Vaughn Gittin Jr.'s RTR Vehicles, will debut at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK on July 12. After that, the car will head back to the U.S. for the Experimental Aircraft Association's largest fundraiser, The Gathering, held on July 26 during the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh fly-in in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The Eagle Squadron Mustang GT will be auctioned off at The Gathering to support the EAA's youth education programs.

Under the hood of the Eagle Squadron Ford Mustang GT is a 700-horsepower 5.0-liter V8 with a Ford Performance supercharger. The custom car also features an RTR carbon fiber wide-body kit and Tactical Performance suspension package. With its camouflage design, eagle on the roof, red and blue circles on the hood, and yellow highlights, the Eagle Squadron Ford Mustang GT takes its inspiration from World War II Royal Air Force Eagle squadrons that flew over the fields of Goodwood nearly 80 years ago.
